HARRISBURG, Pa. — (June 7, 2022) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC is pleased to be the first law firm in Pennsylvania to join the Women’s Business Enterprise Center-East (WBEC-East) Supplier Diversity Council, a group of 58 private organizations, government agencies and education institutions that champion women-owned businesses.
WBEC-East is an organization for female business owners and entrepreneurs in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Southern New Jersey that advocates for the benefits of diversity on innovation, partnerships and economic success. By joining the other 57 Supplier Diversity Council members, McNees’ membership in the counsel is the latest example of its commitment to meaningful diversity.
”We are absolutely delighted to be the first law firm to join the WBEC-East Council,” said Bob Weishaar, McNees’ vice chair and chair of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. “Our membership reflects our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, both in the legal industry and in the many communities we serve.”
McNees public finance attorney Frannie Reilly is serving as McNees’ designee to the council, participating in committee activities, organization oversight, WBEC-East events and education workshops. She has worked with the group for six years as a business owner, mentor and, now, council member.
Reilly frequently presents webinars to its members on determining which business structure best accomplishes their business goals, completing the legal registration process and avoiding common missteps and misconceptions.
“We are thrilled to be accepting into the WBEC-East Council the first law firm in our territory,” Elizabeth Walsh, president of WBEC-East, said. “McNees is a maverick in the legal industry. As the inaugural legal Council Member, McNees’ example and commitment will be mutually beneficial for diverse and minority businesses and the legal industry.”
