HARRISBURG, Pa. – (February 17, 2021) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC attorney Devin Chwastyk will present on cybersecurity and privacy issues for school solicitors for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
Devin’s CLE presentation will explore the school solicitor’s role in preventing data breaches and in keeping schools in compliance with federal and state privacy laws and regulations. He will highlight top cybersecurity threats and emerging student privacy issues while focusing on how those concerns should shape the drafting of school district policies, the negotiation of terms of vendor contracts and more.

Devin Chwastyk is Chair of the McNees Privacy & Data Security Practice Group. Devin began working on cybersecurity issues in 2005 when he represented banks in some of the first successful data breach lawsuits in U.S federal courts. Today, he advises clients on policies and procedures to limit the risk of data exposure events and on compliance with federal, state, and international privacy laws, including FERPA, HIPPA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the California Consumer Protection Act, and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. He also helps organizations respond to data breaches, including in rectifying and reporting those events to comply with notification laws and limit potential liability. Devin earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional designation (CIPP/US) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
