Construction lawyer Michael D. Klein, member of McNees’ Real Estate and Construction & Procurement Law Groups, has more than 25 years of experience serving the construction and development industries.
Michael is trusted by his construction industry clients to handle their most difficult and complex construction projects and disputes. He is known for finding practical resolutions to construction claims through ADR, as well as trying to verdict or award numerous construction claims on behalf of contractors in arbitration and at the state and federal levels.
Michael guides his construction industry clients through all stages of their project, from the contracting stage to project execution and claims resolution. He focuses on project risk control and front-end preparation for owners and contractors for purposes of dispute avoidance along with on-time and on-budget project delivery.
Michael serves as national construction counsel for some of America’s largest developers, assisting with the design and construction of shopping centers and mixed-use properties across the U.S. He has also served as construction counsel on power generation projects; manufacturing plants; steel mills; water and wastewater treatment plants; hospitals; schools; courthouses; bridge and highway projects; condominium and mix-used facilities; and sports and entertainment complexes.
Michael is admitted pro hac vice in multiple jurisdictions across the United States. Before joining McNees, Michael spent 23 years at Blumling & Gusky, LLP, a Pittsburgh-based boutique construction and real estate law firm, where he was a founding partner.
Michael earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law in 1995 and his B.A. in History from the University of Michigan in 1992.
