McNees ranked top local law firm by number and percentage of women lawyers

HARRISBURG, PA (September 9, 2016) – For the second year in a row, McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC was the top ranked law firm by number and percentage of women lawyers, according to the August 19, 2016 edition of the Central Penn Business Journal (CPBJ).
Founded in Harrisburg in 1935, McNees Wallace & Nurick has 117 lawyers in Dauphin and Lancaster counties of which 46 (39.3 percent) are women. According to the American Bar association, as of May 2016, women make up 36 percent of all lawyers nationally.
Additionally, women and minorities comprise 24 percent of the firm’s ownership. In the U.S. during 2015, women were 21.05 percent of the partners at major U.S. law firms, according to the National Association for Law Placement.
No other firm in the CPBJ rankings surveyed in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties had more than 14 women lawyers.
