McNees Chairman David Kleppinger unanimously confirmed to Penn State Board of Trustees

HARRISBURG, PA (November 28, 2016) – McNees Wallace & Nurick Chairman David M. Kleppinger was unanimously confirmed as a member of The Pennsylvania State University Board of Trustees on Wednesday, November 16.
The 48-0 vote from the Pennsylvania State Senate gives Kleppinger a three-year term on the board.
“I am humbled and honored by the Governor’s nomination and the Senate’s confirmation,” Kleppinger said. “I look forward to serving my alma mater and providing any assistance that I can to make a great University even greater.”
Kleppinger graduated from Penn State in 1977 Phi Beta Kappa with highest distinction. He earned his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1980 where he served as the Associate Pennsylvania Project Editor for the Temple Law Quarterly.
In addition to serving as Chairman at McNees, Kleppinger also serves as Chair of the Political Action Committee, and is an ex officio member of all other firm committees. He practices as a member of the Energy & Environmental and Government Relations practice groups and represents large commercial and industrial consumers of fixed utility services including electricity, natural gas, water/wastewater, and communications, as well as providers of these services.
Kleppinger led legislative and regulatory initiatives to restructure these industries for customer benefit. He has appeared before over 15 state public utility commissions, the FERC, and numerous state and federal appellate courts.
Additionally, Kleppinger has served on many organizations and non-profits. He is a board member of The United Way of the Capital Region, including Chair in 2016 and Campaign Chair in 2013. He also is the Vice Chair of Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry; a past board member and chairman (2011-2012) of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities; the Vice Chair (2014-2016) for Team Pennsylvania Foundation; and a board member for the Jonathan Eshenour Foundation.
From 2013-2015, Kleppinger was the Chairman for the Pennsylvania State University, College of Liberal Arts Political Science Department, Board of Visitors, a Board in which he has served since 2008.
Kleppinger, who has been recognized by “The Best Lawyers in America” since 1991, resides in Hummelstown, PA with his wife, Joanne. He has two adult children and one grandchild.
