TOWSON, Md. — (April 16, 2025) McNees Wallace & Nurick today announced the addition of construction litigation and arbitration attorney David L. Cole Jr. to the firm’s growing Towson team.

Cole joins McNees’ Construction & Procurement Group, bringing with him 35 years of deep experience handling complex legal matters for clients in the construction and land development industry, as well as commercial and industrial clients.

He comes to McNees from the Baltimore office of Baker Donelson, where he represented domestic and international clients in significant construction litigation. His experience includes advising general contractors on large-scale projects, such as hotels, schools, infrastructure and marine construction throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

“It’s rare to find an attorney with the depth and breadth of experience that David brings to clients – deftly managing complex legal cases for a range of clients, from local and regional contractors to large national and international companies,” said Rick Grams, McNees’ member attorney in charge of the Towson office. “His more than three-decade, distinguished career in construction law and litigation will add immediate value to our clients, not just in Maryland but also nationally and around the globe.”

Cole’s construction practice includes a broad range of clients, including owners, general contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, suppliers and design professionals. His litigation practice covers complex commercial, industrial and heavy construction disputes, including public projects, bid protests, mechanics’ liens, bond claims and civil litigation and arbitration across the U.S. and internationally.

“Exceptional client service is at the heart of my legal practice, and it’s why I decided to join the growing team at McNees’ Towson office,” Cole said. “McNees shares my clients-first philosophy, and I’m excited to work with the talented team of legal professionals both here in Maryland, as well as in the firm’s offices in Pennsylvania and Ohio.”

McNees’ Real Estate, Construction, and Procurement Group includes more than 40 attorneys across the firm’s 10 offices, providing clients with extensive construction law services—including dispute resolution, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance and procurement.

“Our clients expect a steady hand at the wheel when they’re managing complex legal issues, and that’s exactly what they can expect from David,” said Andrew Levy, chair of the McNees Construction & Procurement Group. “His proven track record in handling high-stakes construction disputes adds immense value to our firm and our clients, and we’re thrilled he has joined our team.”

Cole earned his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Washington & Lee University. He is a previous member of the University of Richmond School of Law’s board of directors.
