McNees adds construction attorney Colin Butler

LANCASTER, Pa. — (Oct. 1, 2024) The McNees Construction and Procurement Group is bolstering its team with the addition of associate attorney Colin Butler.
Butler, a lifelong Lancaster resident, assists owners, general contractors and subcontractors with all aspects of construction law, including public and private projects. He has experience with matters including scope of work disputes, change orders, delays, mechanics’ liens, pay app certification, differing site conditions and construction defects. He also has experience with the Prompt Payment Act, Construction Workplace Misclassification Act, Davis Bacon Act and Steel Products Procurement Act.
Prior to joining McNees, Butler practiced at a Lancaster-based construction litigation boutique and another central Pennsylvania firm. He also clerked for Judge Richard A. Lewis in the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas and for Judge Christopher Hackman in the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. Butler earned his law degree and a business law certificate from the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in American history from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
McNees’ Construction and Procurement Group is led by James W. Kutz and Paul D. Rose. In the last 18 months, the team also added Caitlyn Bechta as Associate and Benjamin Wright as Of Counsel in the firm’s Devon, Pa. office. The team of now 12 attorneys has a physical presence spanning Pennsylvania – from Pittsburgh in the west to Devon in the east – and Maryland. McNees provides guidance to clients throughout the construction lifecycle, from project planning and risk assessments to public contracts and procurement compliance, contract drafting and negotiation and project delivery advice. The team also bring robust construction dispute resolution and litigation experience and regularly partners with the firm’s Labor and Employment Group on labor matter and union negotiations.
