McNees’ Mark Stanley Appointed to NAHB’s 2016 Legal Action Committee

LANCASTER, PA (May 11, 2016) – McNees attorney Mark Stanley was recently appointed to the Legal Action Committee of the National Association of Home Builders.

The NAHB Legal Action Committee (LAC) provides guidance to NAHB, a Washington, D.C. based trade association whose mission is to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry.   

The LAC maintains jurisdiction over matters concerning financial, research and strategic assistance in litigation and other legal matters and oversees the operation of several programs offered through NAHB’s Office of Legal Affairs that includes, the Legal Action Fund, Amicus Brief and Litigation Programs and the Legal Action Network for Development Strategies (LANDS).  The Legal Action Committee strategically works within the normal guidelines of the NAHB budget process of those cases of national significance or presenting major issues important to the housing industry, works with property owners and others on land use and environmental cases before the United States Supreme Court and lower courts and they monitor important cases and disseminate valuable precedents and legal strategies to NAHB affiliated state and local associations and NAHB membership.

Mark has been an active member of the Lancaster legal community, practicing in the area of real estate law, with a particular focus on zoning, land use and land development matters. He represents local, regional and national development clients in South Central Pennsylvania. 

Mark is actively involved with numerous real estate industry organizations that focus on local, regional and statewide development and transportation issues.  He is the 2012 and 2013 recipient of the Presidential Award from the Building Industry Association of Lancaster County and a recognized Pennsylvania Super Lawyers®, Land Use/Zoning in 2013 and 2014.

Mark received his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Marquette Univeristy.  He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.  He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Lancaster County Bar Associations, the Lancaster County Building Industry Association and the Pennsylvania Builders Association, where he is Co-Chair of special committee on Pennsylvania Department of Transportation issues.  In addition, Mark serves as a Committee Member for the Lancaster County Housing Affordability Task Force and Lancaster County Smart Growth Transportation Task Force and is the former Vice President of the Coalition for Smart Growth.
