Speaking Engagements
Schaun Henry is the moderator for a panel discussion entitled Immigration and the Modern Workforce – A Match Not Quite Made in Made in Heaven as part of ALFA International’s 2024 International Client Seminar running February 29 – March 3 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico
Session Description:
With an aging workforce and a labor force participation that has declined since the 1990s, it is clear employee shortages will only get worse over time in agriculture, and also in many other sectors of the economy. In 2022, the U.S. had almost twice as many job openings as unemployed workers. The shortage of workers results in higher wages and less production of agricultural and other goods, ultimately leading to higher consumer prices. Some say the easy fix is turning to immigrants to fix the problem. In this roundtable we will discuss the potential pitfalls and positives of using immigration to supplement the labor force. Come with us as we explore the challenges and rewards facing employers who are seeking to bolster their workforce.
