Helix Strategies president offers insights, tips to nonprofits at Lancaster County chamber events

LANCASTER, Pa. — From lobbying and advocacy to strategic planning best practices, Helix Strategies President and Founder Ivy Buchan will offer a range of insights and tips at two chamber events in Lancaster County this month.
Buchan founded Helix Strategies, LLC in 2017 after more than 20 years of nonprofit experience. Helix works with nonprofits to develop strategic solutions to fundraising and leadership challenges. The firm specializes in fundraising/engagement strategies, board development, strategic planning, evaluation, membership-based organizations and foundations.
Buchan will be the guest speaker at the upcoming Nonprofit Community Benefit Organization (CBO) Roundtable hosted by the Lancaster Chamber and Lancaster County Community Foundation. The free event will be held 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at The S. Dale High Leadership Center, 1861 William Penn Way, Lancaster.
At the roundtable event, Buchan will discuss allowable advocacy and lobbying activities for nonprofit organizations and provide tips for how nonprofits an effectively communicate and fund those activities. To register for the event, email register@lancasterchamber.com.
Buchan will also offer her insights on nonprofit strategic planning at a Lunch & Learn event hosted by the Southern Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce. That event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Moor Indoor Range & Training Center, 2488 Willow Street Pike, Lancaster.
At the lunch-and-learn event, Buchan will present “7 Tips for a Strategic Plan,” offering tips for a productive and smooth strategic planning process and best practices for engaging board members, gathering stakeholder input and organizing goals and tasks.
The event includes lunch. Cost is free for Southern Lancaster County Chamber members and $10 for guests. Register online at southernlancasterchamber.org.
Buchan is a state and national Licensed Consultant in nonprofit management best practices and is a Master Trainer through the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She earned her Ph.D. in Administration and Leadership Studies in the Nonprofit Sector from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
