PITTSBURGH, Pa. — (April 3, 2023) Healthcare regulatory and compliance attorney Christina Duty has joined McNees Wallace & Nurick’s Pittsburgh team.
She previously served as the Director of Risk Intelligence and Case Management at a national health insurance and healthcare provider system, where she led a team of compliance professionals, including attorneys and auditors, dedicated to the implementation of new guidance and management of audits impacting hospitals, providers and health insurance companies.
“Christina’s reputation in the industry and breadth of knowledge gives our clients access to an incredibly valuable resource,” McNees Chair Brian Jackson said. “We’re thrilled to have such a respected healthcare professional joining our growing Pittsburgh team.”
At McNees, Duty serves healthcare providers including hospitals, health systems and physician practices as well as health insurance companies. She delivers guidance on third party payer reimbursement issues; corporate compliance programs; medical staff, credentialing and peer review; fraud and abuse matters; healthcare mergers and acquisitions; data privacy and security; and integrated delivery and finance systems. She also represents clients faced with government agency investigations and third-party payer audits.
“I am pleased to join McNees, where I can continue serving the healthcare industry, which is faced with challenges of a rapidly changing legal and regulatory landscape,” Christina Duty said. “It’s great to join a firm with a well-earned reputation for putting clients first and bringing them solutions for issues they not only face today but may anticipate in the future.”
McNees’ Healthcare attorneys, led by Julia Coelho, have experience guiding clients through the complexities of healthcare law, including regulatory compliance, corporate and tax, labor and employment, professional licensing, risk management and, when needed, litigation. The McNees healthcare practice group provides counsel to organizations and individuals across Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
Last year, the group’s growing healthcare mergers and acquisitions practice completed transactions totaling more than $106 million across various sectors of the healthcare industry, including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, emergency medical services and pharmacies. The dealmakers are supported by McNees’ tax law, labor and employment law, employee benefits and executive compensation, intellectual property, real estate and energy and environmental teams to structure deals and see them through.
Duty earned her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University.
With Duty’s addition, McNees’ western Pennsylvania team has grown to 12 attorneys since it opened 15 months ago. The firm offers a range of legal services from its Pittsburgh office, including construction, procurement and real estate law; corporate and tax law; intellectual property and patent law; labor and employment law; litigation; mergers and acquisitions; and healthcare.
