Brigid Landy Khuri and policy specialist Kevin Sunday, will discuss the basics about geothermal at a Lunch & Learn event presented by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Environmental & Energy Law Section’s Energy Law Committee on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Technological advancements in geothermal energy, including the first successful demonstration in Nevada earlier this year, are generating discussion around the potential promise of harnessing the earth’s heat to generate electricity. These innovations, combined with available federal funding for the development of clean energy, could lead to the rapid global development of geothermal energy. In the session, Landy Khuri and Sunday will cover potential barriers to development, regulatory considerations and what the federal government is doing to make funding available to innovators in this space. Tom Hucker, senior consultant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Program Office, will join them.
