HARRISBURG, Pa. – (October 11, 2021) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC’s Family Law Practice Group Chair, J. Paul Helvy, will discuss valuable practice tips and guidance about the latest developments in family law support at a Pennsylvania Bar Institute seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021.
Helvy, who is also a member of McNees’ Litigation Practice Group, will join two other thought leaders and a sitting judge on the panel to explain current trends and case law, legislation and procedural rules from the last 12 months. Knowledge of support, custody, equitable distribution and alimony as well as the judicial perspective of the family law discipline provides an invaluable resource for litigation strategy and settlement negotiations.
“It’s critical that as practicing attorneys, we stay abreast of the significant developments in the areas of law in which we practice,” Helvy said. “This program — the 30th annual Family Law Updated hosted by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute — makes it simple for practicing attorneys to do just that.”
Helvy, who has practiced Domestic and Family Law since his admission to the Bar in 1988, has extensive experience in virtually all the counties in Central Pennsylvania. He is familiar with many of the decision makers — including judges, divorce masters, custody conciliators and support conference officers — and accustomed to dealing with complex marital estates as well as the valuation of business, trusts stock options and other complex assets.
As a close observer of the development of Family Law over several decades, Helvy is an active speaker for the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Institute and member of the Family Law Sections. He additionally serves as a course planner of the annual Family Law Institute, which is scheduled to next be held in April 2022.
