McNees Attorney Receives Article of the Year Award from Institute for Professionals in Taxation

HARRISBURG, Pa. – (June 26, 2019) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC attorney Paul Morcom is the recipient of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation’s 2019 Property Tax Article of the Year Award for his article, “Update on Pennsylvania’s Real Estate Tax ‘Purely Public Charity’ Exemption.” It was published October 2018 in the institute’s monthly publication, IPT Insider.
The Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational association serving more than 5,000 members representing approximately 1,200 corporations, firms, or taxpayers throughout the United States and Canada. It is the only professional organization that educates, certifies and establishes strict codes of conduct for state and local income, property and sales & use tax professionals who represent taxpayers.
Paul practices in the McNees State and Local Tax Practice Group where he represents commercial and industrial entities in all areas of state and local taxation, focusing on local property taxes and real estate assessment appeals, as well as state corporate net income, capital stock/foreign franchise, sales and use, PURTA, and gross receipts taxes. He is Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Tax Law Section. In addition, he is the co-author, with McNees attorney Randy Varner, of the leading property tax assessment treatise in Pennsylvania “Assessment Law and Procedure in Pennsylvania.”
