Press Releases
LANCASTER, Pa. – Attorney Andrew Rusniak of McNees Wallace & Nurick will present “Political and Lobbying Activities by Nonprofit Organizations,” on Tuesday, May 16 at the Red Lion Hotel in Harrisburg as part of the half-day RKL Not-for-Profit Seminar.
The seminar will offer insights and education geared toward not-for-profit organizations.
Rusniak’s presentation will focus on how Section 501(c)(3) organizations may engage in lobbying, and how too much lobbying activity risks loss of tax-exempt status. In a highly politicized world, what are the limitations on political and lobbying activities by nonprofit organizations? Attendees of this session will be able to recognize the tax rules governing lobbying activities by 501(c)(3) organizations.
Federal and Pennsylvania registration and disclosure rules will also be discussed.
The presentation is scheduled for 10:40 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and offers one CPE tax credit. There is no cost to attend the presentation, but seating is limited.
Rusniak is a member of the Estate Planning and Corporate & Tax practice groups at McNees and has extensive experience in the formation and operation of non-profit entities, including private foundations, public charities, supporting organizations and other tax-exempt organizations. He works out of the firm’s Lancaster and Harrisburg offices.
