McNees Attorneys to present a Cyberattack Simulation at the Cyber Security for Small and Mid-Size Businesses Seminar

Attorneys from McNees Wallace & Nurick’s Privacy & Data Security practice group will put on a cyberattack simulation at the Cyber Security for Small and Mid-Size Businesses Seminar at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus in Conshohocken, PA on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.
The free seminar is presented by the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety.
“All businesses face the tremendous risk of cyberattacks. This simulation will walk business leaders through the crucial 24 hours after a company receives the dreaded news that it has been hacked,” said McNees attorney Devin Chwastyk. “Our audience will observe firsthand the best practices for responding when a data breach exposes the personal information of a business’s employees or customers and also how to prepare in advance to be ‘compromise ready’ when ransomware or another hacking threat afflicts their computer systems.”
Chwastyk is the chair of the McNees Privacy & Data Security Group. He also speaks and writes frequently about cybersecurity issues and legal risks.
Additionally, the cyberattack simulation will also include presentations by McNees attorneys Louis Dejoie, Brian Gregg, and Tom Markey, who are all members of the Privacy & Data Security Group. The group counsels the firm’s clients to develop data security policies and data breach response plans. When breaches occur, the group’s attorneys assist businesses in responding as necessary to meet their legal obligations and avoid liability.
The McNees Privacy & Data Security Group will be presenting along with Bradford Willke, US Deptartment of Homeland Security’s Cyber Security Advisor; Erik Avakian, CISO for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and cyber-crime experts from the Pennsylvania State Police, the FBI, and InfraGard, an association of persons who represent businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the U.S.
