Press Releases
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Dec. 1, 2021) — McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC today announced the opening of its first Western Pennsylvania office with a team of well-established Pittsburgh construction, real estate and corporate attorneys joining the firm.
Michael D. Klein and David A. Levine join McNees as Member attorneys in the firm’s growing Real Estate and Construction & Procurement Law practice groups.
Robert J. Blumling, Ross A. Giorgianni, Lyndall J. Huggler and Amanda B. Kraft also join the Real Estate and Construction & Procurement Law practice groups as Of Counsel attorneys. Blumling and Huggler are also part of the firm’s Corporate & Tax Law Practice Group. Giorgianni is also part of the firm’s litigation and insurance law practice groups.
Rochelle R. Koerbel joins McNees as Of Counsel in the firm’s Litigation, Labor and Employment, and Construction & Procurement law practice groups. Meagan Truong joins McNees as Of Counsel in the firm’s Corporate & Tax Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Real Estate practice groups.
“This is a big moment for McNees,” said McNees Chair Brian Jackson. “Not only are we gaining the immense talent and deep well of experience of eight attorneys, but we’re also now better able to serve the comprehensive needs of clients throughout the Pittsburgh region and across Western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and West Virginia.”
All eight attorneys were most recently with the Pittsburgh firm of Blumling & Gusky LLP. Jackson noted that McNees has long had a sizeable office in Columbus, Ohio, providing natural synergies with the Pittsburgh team. “This is a perfect fit, both strategically and culturally,” he added. Blumling, a founding member of Blumling & Gusky, agreed.
“McNees is one of the most respected firms in Pennsylvania, because they value and nurture relationships,” said Blumling. “They trust and empower their attorneys to do what’s right and what’s best for their clients. That’s the kind of culture any attorney would want to be a part of.”
Blumling has practiced law for nearly 40 years, with a focus on construction, real estate and development, land use and zoning, surety and environmental law. He earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Princeton University. He has been a member of the Best Attorneys of America list since 2001.
The addition of seven attorneys to both the Construction & Procurement Law and Real Estate practice groups helps to solidify McNees as one of Pennsylvania’s leading firms in those practice areas with 15 construction and procurement attorneys and 29 real estate attorneys.
With the Pittsburgh team onboard, McNees now has a roster of nearly 150 attorneys in a broad array of practice areas – including construction and real estate, corporate and tax, labor and employment, litigation,
and energy and environmental law, to name a handful.
“With this move, our clients now have access to a deep bench of highly skilled professionals, along with the breadth of resources that comes with a larger firm, while also continuing to receive the personalized service they have come to expect from our team,” Klein said. “It’s a win-win.”
Beyond the strength of its expansive law practice, McNees also has several supporting businesses that provide added value to clients – including a title company, a public relations agency and a government relations group, among others.
“McNees shares the same ‘clients first’ philosophy that has guided our practice for decades,” Levine said. “We are passionate client advocates who, like McNees, believe in bringing whatever resources are necessary to help our clients achieve their goals. That’s why we believe this is a perfect match.”
Klein and Levine bring decades of experience in construction, surety, real estate and general business law. Both earned their law degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and their undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan.
An engineer prior to attending law school, Giorgianni counsels clients on a wide range of legal issues related to the construction, design and real estate development industries. He earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering.
Huggler has four decades of experience in construction, real estate and corporate law. He earned his law degree from the Duke University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Wabash College. Koerbel has more than 25 years of extensive litigation experience, including construction, OSHA, personal injury defense, commercial, and labor and employment law. She earned her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and her undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University.
Kraft is past president of the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. She earned her law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware.
Truong advises clients on a variety of general corporate and tax law matters, including corporate governance issues, commercial contracts, employment agreements, real estate transactions, and estate matters, among others. She earned her law degree from The George Washington University Law School and her undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University.
“With this move, we don’t just have a Pittsburgh presence; we have some of the most respected and experienced attorneys in the region,” Jackson said. “We intend to continue to grow our services across all our markets and practice areas. This is an exciting time for our firm and our clients.”
McNees will initially occupy the former Blumling & Gusky offices, located in the Koppers Building, 436 Seventh Ave., Suite 1200, in downtown Pittsburgh. Current and prospective clients may contact the attorneys in the McNees Pittsburgh office by calling 412-227-2500.
