Intellectual Property Attorney, Former Patent Examiner Joins McNees

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (November 29, 2021) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC today announced that David J. Cho, accomplished intellectual property attorney and former U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent examiner, joined the firm.
Cho has developed an intimate knowledge of the U.S. patent process over the last 20 years, during which time he has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in technologies, including computing relating to virtual and augmented reality systems; computer software- and internet- related technologies; semiconductors; medical devices; power tools; battery-related technologies; printing-related devices; and several automotive technologies.
His experience also includes prosecuting applications in foreign jurisdictions; counseling technology transfer matters of intellectual property rights between universities, businesses and governments; and performing infringement and validity studies.
“My past experience as a patent examiner enhances my ability to guide clients through the patent procurement process in a productive and cost-efficient manner,” Cho said.
Before joining McNees, Cho worked as a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examining patent applications in the area of medical devices and surgery technologies. In addition to practicing patent law at several D.C.-area firms, Cho has a background in mechanical engineering and supported the U.S. Navy for ship design prior to his legal career.
Cho earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Property. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.
