Vance chairs the Estate Planning practice group and concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning, and estate and trust administration. Vance is a trusted advisor to multiple generations of families and their businesses.

How does Vance spend his free time?
In his free time, Vance enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, who keep him very busy with various activities. When not spending time with his family, you can find him on the golf course or rooting for his favorite Pittsburgh sports teams.

EXPERIENCE/REPRESENTATIVE CASES
Vance represents business owners, executives, professionals, and retirees in all phases of estate and tax planning. A sampling of his services include:
- Stock sale transactions to ESOPs coupled with the use of qualified replacement property to provide liquidity and income tax savings
- Planning with grantor retained annuity trusts and spousal access trusts to facilitate the transfer of family owned businesses and other assets
- Complex life insurance planning, including split-dollar planning, premium financing, and the use of Irrevocable Trusts
- The sale of business assets to Defective Grantor Trusts
- Creating charitable planning structures, including the use of Charitable Lead Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts, and the creation of private foundations
- Serving as “outside general counsel” to successful families and their businesses
- Providing advice on the structure of buy-sell agreements and succession planning
- Representing executors and trustees in the administration of estates and trusts
