Corey practices in the Estate Planning Group, Corporate & Tax Group, and Real Estate Group and also chairs the Oil & Natural Gas Group and Pipeline and Oil/Gas Infrastructure Practice Group.
What does Corey do for Clients?
With respect to estate planning for individuals, Corey has significant experience drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, and a wide range of trust documents designed to meet clients’ goals of tax minimization, planning for special needs beneficiaries, charitable dispositions, and asset protection. For closely held business clients, Corey advises business owners on succession planning matters including, but not limited to, corporate organization, transfers of business interests through gifts and leveraged sales, stockholder’s agreements and exit strategies for “key-man” owners. In addition, Corey provides general representation to business and professional corporations, general and limited liability partnerships and limited liability companies on business and federal taxation matters.
With respect to estate and trust administration, Corey advises fiduciaries with respect to valuation, taxation, reporting and distribution of estate and trust assets, compliance with duties to beneficiaries and governmental entities, and practical strategies to harmonize the relationship between fiduciaries and beneficiaries.
Corey also has significant experience handling probate court proceedings, both adversarial and uncontested matters, including disputes over estate and trust administration, guardianship appointments for disabled adults and minor children and trust modifications.
Additionally, having practiced in the Real Estate Group since joining the firm, Corey routinely counsels commercial clients on leases, agreements of sale, easements and review/analysis of title issues.
His oil and gas practice includes counseling producers, service companies and landowners on the full spectrum of oil and gas related issues, from leasing to well permitting, hydraulic fracturing, well completion, and production. He has represented large acreage landowners including individuals, businesses and trusts in negotiating leases, easements, and ancillary agreements as well as advising on title issues.
In addition, Corey has worked extensively on several major pipeline and infrastructure projects which were developed and/or repurposed to facilitate the transportation of the vast supplies of shale gas reserves from the Marcellus and Utica basins to the areas of greatest demand.
